The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission has officially released its Notice of Election, signalling the commencement of the electoral process for Chairmanship and Councillorship positions across the state’s 20 Local Government Areas, 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
The announcement, made by LASIEC’s Head of Public Affairs, Tope Ojo, on Friday, kick -starts the process of election into the 57 council chairmanship seats and 376 councillorship positions across the councils in the state.
It was made in pursuant to Section 21(I) of the LASIEC Law of 2008 (as amended).

According to the notice, elections will be held on Saturday, 12th July, 2025, across all LGAs and LCDAs. A possible run-off or re-run, if necessary, is scheduled for Saturday, 19th July, 2025.
LASIEC has invited all registered political parties to obtain nomination and other necessary forms from its headquarters on behalf of their candidates.
“The Notice includes a meeting with Political Parties on Tuesday, April 15, 2025. Publication of Election Guidelines on Wednesday, April 17, 2025. Commencement of Campaigns and Rallies in Friday, April 18, 2025,” Ojo said.

“End of Campaigns and Rallies on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. Closing Date for Submission of Nomination Forms (substituted and only candidate) on Wednesday, June 18 to Wednesday, June 25, 2025. Local Government Elections on Saturday, July 12, 2025, and Run-off/Re-run Election if any on Saturday, July 19, 2025.”
Chairman of LASIEC, Hon. Justice Ayotunde Phillips (rtd), reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to delivering free, fair, inclusive, and credible elections in accordance with global best practices.
She urged political parties and aspirants to strictly adhere to the electoral timetable and guidelines.
